Gurkha people
The Gurkha or Gorkha people from Northeast India are Nepali speakers that live in the mountaineous area between Nepal, Sikkim and Tibet. They have long known to be fierce warriors and the British recruited them as soldiers. They produce the finest tea in terraced hills around their local capital Darjeeling. Their land now belongs to West Bengal (capital Kolkatta), but they advocate for their own autonomous region of Gorkhaland.
